| Biography: |
The Vikings signed kicker Paul Edinger in May, shortly after his release from the Chicago Bears. The Vikings had signed Edinger to an offer sheet two years ago when he was a restricted free agent, but the Bears matched that offer and retained his services.
2004: Connected on a career-low 62.5 percent of his field goals, as his previous career low was 72.2 in the 2003 season. His struggles caused him to seek his release after the season.
2003: Bears’ leading scorer for fourth consecutive season with 105 points, the second-highest single-season total of his career, to tie him for 13th on the NFL scoring list and 6th in the NFC. Ranked 8th in the NFL with 26 FGs made after beginning the year with a personal-best 14 straight successful FGs, tied for the second-longest streak to start a season in team history and the fifth-longest overall streak. Led the NFL with 46.2 percent of his FGs (12-of-26) being from 40 or more yards while ranking 2nd with a made FG average of 37.7 yards and tying for 5th with a FG attempt average of 38.4 yards. Also tied for 2nd in NFL by scoring 37.1 percent of his team's points
2002: Led Bears in scoring while ranking 20th in NFL among kickers with 95 points (9th NFC) and 25th in scoring overall (11th NFC). Tied for NFL lead with career-high 5 FGs of 50 yards or more to equal the third-highest single-season total in NFL history. Named NFC Special Teams Player-of-the-Month for November with 10-of-11 FGs, counting an OT game-winner vs. DET. Average attempt was a league-high 41.9 yards while his average conversion of 40.4 yards ranked 2nd.
2001: Led team in scoring with 112 points (5th in NFC, 9th in NFL) on 26-of-31 FGs and 34-of-34 PATs to become first Bears player to score 100 or more points in a season since Kevin Butler in 1995 and just the sixth ever in team history. Set Bears record with 13 FGs of at least 40 yards.
2000: Led Bears in scoring with 84 points, the third-highest rookie scoring total in team history, en route to earning first-team All-Rookie selection by The Football News and Pro Football Weekly. Connected on 21-of-27 FG attempts, the second-highest total ever for a Bears rookie kicker, and a perfect 21-of-21 PATs.
College: Finished career at Michigan State (1996-99) ranked 7th all-time in scoring with 213 points in just two seasons as the team's featured place-kicker. His 46 FGs rank 3rd in Spartan annals while his 75 PATs rank 6th. Second-team All-Big Ten selection as a junior and senior. A third-team All-American by Football News as a junior, led team with 94 points, on 22-of-26 FGs and 28-of-31 PATs. Served as team's starting punter in every game as a freshman and sophomore. Averaged 39.2 yards on 54 punts as a sophomore.
