EAST LANSING - Riding the stellar play of Michigan State commit
Draymond Green, Saginaw cruised to an easy 20 point win over the East Lansing
Trojans to advance to the State Championship contest vs. Detroit Pershing.
Saginaw built up a lead of twenty points before the pesky Trojans of
East Lansing rallied behind three three-pointers from Charlie Woods who
finished with 16 for East Lansing.
Woods ignited a brief rally, nailing three pointers and rejecting a
Green layup attempt to cut Saginaw's lead down to as few as 12. However
the Saginaw Trojans added a three pointer just before halftime to build
their lead back up to 15 at the half.
However, in the second half, Green imposed his will on the smaller but
game Trojans scoring 18 of his 30 in the second half as Saginaw
pulled away.
"Their pressure really got to us," said East Lansing Coach Doug
Fleming. "We really need to be structured and they took us out of our
structure."
"It's special to have a performance like this anywhere," said MSU bound
Green. "But to come off a game like I had in the quarterfinals
(against Clarkston), it's good to rebound and come back strong and get the
victory like we did today."
