What To Like
Heath is ranked as a 3-star prospect by Scout.com but a lot of that is due to not having been seen up close. Built with a long frame, Heath has a body that will flourish in the Spartans weight program and is athletic enough to stay on the edge or big enough to move inside if needed. As for the grade issues, Heath himself saw that he needed to make a chance and did the work needed to get himself in good standing. When you speak with Joel you come away knowing this kid is a solid kid on and off the field. Spartan fans should be very excited about what Joel Heath will bring to the program.
What May Concern You
As we've stated there is still work needed to be done in the classroom by Heath and it's not so much from what he's doing now as to what he didn't do as a freshman or sophomore in high school. He's catching up things and doing the right things needed to have no issues. Will still need to take the ACT or SAT but I don't feel it will be an issue.
Early on many though Heath was too thin, I saw him at a combine in March and came away knowing he's was starting to fill out. But what really impressed me was how he went about his work in each drill and the way he took to coaching. On film Heath shows the willingness to go until the whistle blows and shows the ability to chase down a ball carrier or quarterback coming across the opposite side of the play.
