Despite erroneous reports on other websites that state Columbus Walnut Ridge defensive end/tight end prospect Austin Traylor has received a Michigan State scholarshiop offer, he has not. Traylor called GSN last night to clear the air on his recruitment.
While he likes Michigan State very much he confirmed to GSN that he does not currently hold a Michigan State offer but he would like to receive one.
"They have not extended an offer to me," said Traylor and asked "where did that come from?" He confirmed though, that the coaching staff have been in touch with him.
"I've been talking to their coaches, but I haven't talked to them since we had all of those snow days," he said. He also told GSN he has not yet been to a Michigan State junior day session.
Still he says he has had several conversations with linebackers coach Mike Tressel about Michigan State.
While he doesn't yet have a Michigan State offer, he could get one at any time and it wouldn't surprise anyone after his great junior year where he recorded 80 tackles and 14 sacks.
"I feel I'm quick off the ball and so I'm able to shed blockers and get down the line of scrimmage," he said.
Traylor does have offers from Ball State, Indiana, Louisville, North Carolina State, Toledo and West Virginia. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound defensive/tight end says an offer from Michigan State would be well received.
He also expects his team to have a solid season this year on the gridiron so GSN believes that MSU fans haven't heard the last of Austin Traylor on the Spartans radar, he just doesn't have an MSU offer at this time.
