Michigan State erased an early five-point deficit, established a four-point halftime lead and running away from the Citadel 69-56.
MSU got 17 points and six rebounds from guard Kalin Lucas, Raymar Morgan 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Delvon Roe, Chris Allen and Draymond Green added nine each.
The Spartans got a fight from a game Bulldogs squad that lit it up from the perimeter.
The Citadel nailed five straight three-pointers to establish an early five-point lead. Michigan State answered with a 9-2 run to take over the lead.
But Guard Zach Urbanus who poured in four-of seven from the perimeter and 5-of-7 from the field overall, knocked down a two-pointer with 8:16 left that pulled the Citadel to within five points.
But MSU answered with an 11-3 run, pushing their lead back to 13 points and ending the Bulldogs chances at an upset.
The road win pushed MSU to 7-2 who returns back to the friendly confines of the Breslin Center and host Oakland University on Thursday.
