EAST LANSING - Brett Swenson's 34-yard field goal gave Michigan State an early 3-0 lead, but it left an indelible mark on the record books.

The boot was the 63rd of his four year career and makes him the greatest field goal kicker of all time at Michigan State surpassing former Chicago Bears star Dave Rayner's 62 career field goals.

Swenson made his 63rd on just 81 attempts while it took Rayner 90 attempts to make his 62. With four games left Swenson has a shot a putting the mark out of reach.

While Swenson takes over the all time field goal mark, there are several other marks he has a shot at taking. Rayner's 334 (Swenson 309) career points and 151 (Swenson 120) extra points still stand.

But don't count the little man from Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas from putting his name next to those two marks before the season's end.
