Ohio Star OL Michael Dennis Talks MSU Offer

Carey (OH) high school offensive lineman Michael Dennis was among those who participated in Michigan State summer camp last weekend and he came away with a scholarship offer from the Spartans.

CAREY, OH - Carey (OH) high school offensive lineman Michael Dennis was among those who participated in Michigan State summer camp last weekend and he came away with a scholarship offer from the Spartans.

But that is no surprise. Dennis is now up to 13 offers including from Akron, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Maryland, Marshall, North Carolina State and Michigan State.

Dennis was just returning from the Ohio State one-day camp, he was upbeat despite the fact he did not receive an offer from the Buckeyes, at least not yet.

"It was exciting getting that offer from Michigan State, just one of the top schools in the Big Ten, it's just exciting getting one from Michigan State," said Dennis.

"I felt like I did really well in all my drills, in my run blocking, pass blocking, the one-on-ones, everything we did, I felt like I did really well.

I could actually see myself going there," said Dennis. "I thought the (Skandalaris building) was very impressive."

Dennis reports that he attended six camps and came away with offers from all except Ohio State and Cincinnati, but he says, that he isn't disappointed at all because he feels his performance stood for itself.

So what was his Michigan State experience like?

"They were telling me that their kids like to give back to the community and it was real nice to talk to some of the players and get their side of the story and what goes on in the life of a student-athlete (at Michigan State).

Dennis says, despite having 13 scholarship offers, "this summer" he will make a decision.

"I'll try to get it done before my senior season. I'd like to get it out of the way so I can focus on my senior season."

He also says that the schools he's interested in have assured him that if he makes his decision prior to the start ofhis senior year, the offers will be there.

Dennis said that MSU Coach Dan Roushar really helped him on his footwork, his balance and helped him with his explosion off the line of scrimmage. As for his senior year, Dennis believes the Blue Devils have a shot at a nice season.

"We should have a pretty decent team, we went 10-2 last season and most of the guys are returning."

If the Spartans could grab a commitment from Dennis it would give them a solid offensive lineman who's stock is really rising and shows major college potential.

GSN will continue to track the recruitment of Michael Dennis.
