EAST LANSING - Kalin Lucas and Raymar Morgan combined for 33 points to give MSU a 67-58 win over Ohio State to push their conference mark to 3-0.
Ohio State jumped out early to a 17-13 lead behind the shooting of freshman guard William Buford, but MSU cut into the Buckeye advantage by hitting five three-point shot over a three-minute span to eventually opening up a 17-point margin early in the second half and coasted to the win.
Coach Tom Izzo said his team is tired, played tired and that he would give them a day off to rest up.
Izzo warned of dire consequences if MSU didn't have their legs in Saturday's meeting against Kansas.
"If we're not ready to run in that game, we're going to get run out of the gym because they're very athletic. We have to get freshened up," he said in his postgame press conference.
Morgan led the Spartans on the boards with ten rebounds and Travis Walton chipped in with four assists.
MSU (12-2, 3-0 Big Ten) hosts Kansas (11-3) Saturday at 1:00pm at the Breslin Center.
