EAST LANSING - Michigan State University football today announced that Enrique Shaw and Roderick Jenrette were no longer part of the MSU football team.
Shaw, has voluntarily left the program and is not expected to return. Jenrette was asked by the staff to take an 'indefinite leave of absence' to handle a personal issue. His return to the program is uncertain.
Jenrette was expected to be the starter at the free safety position for the team after a strong spring practice.
If the players do not return, it could free up additional scholarships for the 2009 recruiting class which has been billed by most recruiting experts as among the top 50 in the nation and in the top three of the Big Ten.
It was revealed earlier today that freshman walk-on Mitchell White and two scholarship freshmen; Cameron Jude and Charles Burrell were ticketed for fleeing from campus police.
In the wake of the moves, MSU did not have any media availability today as they prepare for the season opener on the road against the University of California.
