EAST LANSING -
Michigan State
's defense won the second scrimmage of the spring defeated the offense 46-40 in a controlled event at Spartan Stadium.
While these events usually don't carry much significance except for bragging rights, it is noteworthy that redshirt freshman
Andre Anderson
rushed for 98 yards on 14 carries including a breakaway 97 yard touchdown run for the offense.
His performance may have moved him even, if not ahead of junior
A.J. Jimmerson
who rushed for just 23 yards on eight carries.
It wasn't the best of days for Spartan quarterback led by senior Brian Hoyer's 10-of-18 and one interception, redshirt freshmen
Nick Foles
(11-of-18 for 82 yards) and
Kirk Cousins
(5-of-8 for 28 yards) in relief had good performances.
Chris D. Rucker, moved from defensive back to receiver, led MSU with four catches for 39 yards, sophomore
Mark Dell
caught 3 for 20 and
Blair White
had two for 27 yards.
Sophomore
Greg Jones
continues to show why he's a future pro, leading MSU with nine tackles, but newly converted linebacker
Ryan Allison
, a senior matched Jones with nine including one for loss.
Adam Decker
(six, three for loss) and
Kendell Davis
Clark (five) played well for the defense.
MSU gets ready for their spring football game next Saturday, April 19th.
