ScoutTV: Pershing's Sophomore Keith Appling

GSN took our Digital Video cameras to East Lansing and the MHSAA state semi-finals to get a look at two players who've been mentioned as possible future Spartans, Derrick Nix, a power forward candidate for 2009 and Appling.

EAST LANSING - Seldom do you see a player so polished and advanced at this age, but Pershing's sophomore guard Keith Appling is on the short list of 10th graders who are worthy of evaluation in the State of Michigan.

It's not uncommon to see Appling's name pop up in recruiting threads about future players who could end up at Michigan State and with the Green-and-White already landing verbal commitments for the 2009 class, it isn't too early to look a little further down the line to 2010.

GSN took our DigitalVideo cameras to East Lansing and the MHSAA state semi-finals to get a look at two players who've been mentioned as possible future Spartans, Derrick Nix, a power forward candidate for 2009 and Appling.

We trained the camera on Appling for the entire second half to see what we could find were strong points and weaknesses in his game. Take a look at this video which shows Appling against some strong competition in the form of Iowa State bound point guard Dominique Buckley of Romulus.

Buckley, a senior, had high praise for Appling, despite him being just a sophomore.
