Spartans Headed to Champs Sports Bowl vs. BC

EAST LANSING - Michigan State got their just reward for turning things around under first year head coach Mark Dantonio.

The Spartans are headed to the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando, FL to face off against Matt Ryan and the Boston College Eagles in what will surely be one of the highlight games of the Bowl season.

Michigan State made the announcement at 8:30 EST that they indeed had accepted the bid and will play in their first bowl game since 2003.

It'll be the run-happy Spartans against the pass-happy Eagles who were ranked #11 prior to a 30-16 loss to Virginia Tech in the ACC title game.

The Eagles rank 6th in the nation in passing offense behind Ryan, the nation's fifth leading passer, throwing for 4,258 yards and 327.5 passing yards per game. Senior running back Andre Callender rushed for 789 yards and 71.7 yards per game.

The Spartans will be facing the nation's stingiest run defense in the Eagles who top the nation, allowing on 68.1 yards per game.

They'll face a stern test from senior Jehuu Caulcrick and junior Javon Ringer.
