WASHINGTON, D.C. - Linebacker Dion Guy of H.D. Woodson high school has been the subject of much controversy over the last few weeks. GSN first reported on September 1st that Guy had committed to the Spartans.

That news was met with open skepticism by some websites which following Michigan State recruiting, but thanks to some solid detective work by GSN board admin msusportz1, we were able to track down Guy and he told us what exactly is his status.

"Yes, I committed to Michigan State," said Guy. "They offered me back in June I think it was, and I thought about it for a while."

"I decided to commit, but it is a 'soft verbal'. The coaching staff told me they wanted me to wait until I could come up there and see the campus to be sure," said Guy.

The 6-foot-3, 217 pounder said even though Woodson lost to Jarred Holley's team last week, he had seven tackles including three for loss.

Guy says he's known for his athleticism, his combination of speed and range make him a perfect fit for the Spartans linebacking corps.

H.D. Woodson is currently in Ohio for tonight's contest against Cleveland St. Edwards.

Guy said he will be visiting East Lansing at the conclusion of his senior season when he says he expects the soft verbal will become a solid verbal.
