Michigan State got a superb efforts from wide receiver
Devin Thomas
who made the most of his four catches for 156-yards and a touchdown and three sacks from reserve defensive end Jonal St. Dic to pace the Spartans.
Michigan State went into the half tied with the Falcons at 10-10 but some outstanding halftime adjustments by defensive coordinator
Pat Narduzzi
made the difference holding the potent BGSU attack to just three points after intermission.
The Spartans claimed the lead for good when quarterback
Brian Hoyer
hit Thomas with a 42-yard bomb to set MSU up first-and-goal at their five yard line.
Jehuu Caulcrick
cashed in from five to put MSU up by seven.
The Falcons cut the Spartans lead to four on a 31-yard field goal by Sinisa Vrivlo but safety
Roderick Jenrette
, subbing for an injured
Nehemiah Warrick
picked off Falcons quarterback
Tyler Sheehan
giving MSU a first down at the BGSU 18-yard line.
Hoyer connected with Thomas to give MSU the margin of victory.
