BRINGING HEAT: Baldwin Wants To Make Impact

With one last chance for glory on the horizon, Baldwin has made it clear he is embracing his shot as a starter with a defensive minded coaching staff that wants the team to be an attacking, fast paced unit the forces turnovers and gets off the field.

EAST LANSING - Michigan State senior defensive end Ervin Baldwin is a key man on the Spartans defense.

After transferring from Reedley Junior College, Baldwin did not produce the kind of fireworks predicted by then Spartans defensive coordinator Chris Smeland (32 tackles, 4 sacks tied for MSU lead in 2006)

In fact, at times, Baldwin's head appeared to be swivel along with several other Spartans defenders. Through no fault of their own, the bizzare schemes of the former defensive staff often backfired leaving chances for big plays and wins, in the dust.

Now, with one last chance for glory on the horizon, Baldwin has made it clear he is embracing his shot as a starter with a defensive minded coaching staff that wants the team to be an attacking, fast paced unit the forces turnovers and gets off the field.

Can Baldwin be the kind of force that the coaching staff needs from their starting rush end? Can he produce enough to see his dream come true, getting a shot at a NFL contract?
