Michigan State University head coach Tom Izzo and former assistant Jim Boylan, now the head coach at Utah, were in attendance to see former star standout Jason Richardson battle the Utah Jazz in playoff action last night.
Richardson did not disappoint, pouring in five three-pointers of his 27 points and getting two steals , but it was poor free throw shooting down the stretch -an Izzo bugaboo, that led to the Warriors demise as Utah held them off in overtime 125-117.
Izzo makes a habit of going to see his former players in big games, but hasn't been to many playoff games of late. He views it as an extension of his program. The payoff is many of those players show up back in East Lansing and have an influence on recruiting.
Golden State is down 2-0 to Utah but heads back to the Bay Area in an attempt to turn around the series.
