Michigan State offers Cleveland Star

LB Reggie Shaw

Reggie Shaw, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound, linebacker from Cleveland (Shaw) has more than 20 scholarship offers and he's narrowed that list down to four schools. Did Michigan State make the cut?

"I have about 20 scholarship offers, linebacker Reggie Smith said. "My favorites right now are Virginia, Michigan State, Maryland and Ohio State.

"Ohio State hasn't offered me a scholarship yet.

"Virginia is my leader. They've been on me since my ninth grade and they're the best in keeping in contact and communicating with me."

Smith, a 6-foot-2, 235-pounder, from Cleveland (Shaw) is one of the best prospects in the Midwest.

He'll be a four-year starter in 2002, Reggie had 112 tackles and 17 sacks as a junior.

Smith will be making a position switch this season. He played defensive end last year and says he'll play an outside linebacker position this year.

He was named all-league in 2001 and he's a pre-season (Student Sports) All-America candidate this season.

Smith camped at Bowling Green, Michigan State, Toledo, Virginia and Maryland this summer. He also letters in basketball and track.
