EAST LANSING - Four Michigan State University football players have
been arraigned for their part in off the field incidents over the past few
weeks.
Tight ends Eric Andino and Kellen Davis were arraigned yesterday on
misdemeanor assault charges for their role in a off campus fight involving
two other students.
When the incident took place, the two were accompanied by two other
players, Barre Mackie and Jeremy McGinnis, who had walk-on to the football
team.
Davis allegedly assualted MSU student Mark Montgomery, the boyfriend of
a girl who accompanied Andino to a party at the Capstone Commons
Apartments following a verbal confrontation between the two. Andino then
allegedly took on Montgomery's friend, MSU student Joey Lambert. The two players were
indefinitely suspended by MSU coach John L. Smith.
In an unrelated incident, Mike Bell, also suspended from the football
team indefinitely, was arraigned on misedemeanor assault and battery
charges. According to published reports, on September 9th Bell slammed a
female acquaintance to the ground and when her two friends interceded
on her behalf, Bell allegedly punched one in the nose and the other in
the jaw.
Finally, former MSU defensive tackle Bobby Jones was dismissed from the
team. Assault and battery charges appear immiment following his arrest related to an incident in Bath Township, MI.
