EAST LANSING - That collective sigh of relief you heard this weekend came from Spartan hoops fans who heard Shannon Brown confirm on Senior Day that he'll return for his senior season at Michigan State.
Brown, who will be the focal point of the MSU offense next season, could have turned pro with graduating seniors Paul Davis and Maurice Ager and likely been a first round draft pick - perhaps ahead of the two seniors.
Brown told reporters who approached him after MSU's loss to the Fighting Illini that he would return for his senior day next season. “Yes I am," said Brown in reponse to the question whether he would return.
He followed with “it's true. I wouldn’t say it if it wasn’t.”
Brown will team with sophomore Drew Neitzel and medical redshirt Drew Naymick to form the nucleus of next year's squad. Incoming freshman Isaiah Dahlman of Minnesota, Tom Herzog of Flint and Raymar Morgan of Ohio are expected to give the Spartans an instant boost to the offensive side of the ball.
