After putting on a good performance, the Mayer (Minn.) Lutheran offensive tackle hopes to be a name the coaches in East Lansing know now.
”I went there and met all the coaches and now they know who I am,” he said. “I think I am kind of on their radar now.”
The 6-foot-6, 275-pound Schlueter, who holds offers from Minnesota and South Dakota State, said he liked what he saw at Michigan State.
“I really liked the facilities and I looked around the campus a little bit and I really liked it,” he said. “I really enjoyed being around the head coach and the offensive line coach, they were good guys and they definitely know what they are talking about.”
As for his showing at camp, he felt like he left a good impression of what he can bring to a team.
”I felt like I kind of have to show them how I can move and use my size and that kind of stuff,” he said. “I got some positive feedback from the offensive line coach and he said he liked me.”
Schlueter also made stops throughout the Big Ten this summer, as well as at Sound Mind Sound Body.
“I went to Sound Mind Sound Body then Michigan State, then Wisconsin and a week later I went to Iowa because they invited me down after seeing me at Sound Mind Sound Body,” he said. “A couple weeks after that I went to SDSU and the last one here was the Gophers.”
With a pair of offers resulting, he said he felt things went well and he hopes more come his way.
“I hope the coaches did, too, I just have to see what happens when Sept. 1 rolls around when they can start talking to me,” he said.
