No. 1 QB Henry set to visit Michigan State

Westlake (Calif.) High quarterback taking Midwest swing, including stopping with the Spartans on Saturday. He talks Michigan State, his Sound Mind Sound Body experience this week and more.

Westlake (Calif.) High quarterback Malik Henry already is highly coveted around the nation, but one offer he does not hold yet is Michigan State.

Scout.com's No. 1-ranked passer in 2016 has plans to visit the Spartans on Saturday in hopes of seeing that change as he checks things out in East Lansing.

"I just want to see the campus and the environment and to meet the whole coaching staff," he said. "I think I am going to work out with them, so I will probably throw a few."

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound quarterback already has spent time around the Michigan State program as he checked things out when MSU was in California for the Rose Bowl, so he is looking forward to a better relationship coming from the visit.

"I watched them practice at the Rose Bowl last year," Henry said. "I love their offense. I got to meet Coach Salem, but I didn't get to really talk with him formally, so hopefully we can build a stronger relationship with him and we will see what happens."

He said an offer would mean a lot, as it would join the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC and many more.

He also has plans to visit some of those schools while in the Midwest after camping at Sound Mind Sound Body.

"I'm going to go to Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State," he said. "I have offers from all of those."

As for his experience in Detroit at SMSB, Henry said it was valuable and something he can build on.

"It was great competing with all the other quarterbacks," he said. "It was great working with all the coaches. Some of the drills, I am going to try and put into my game and go work on those back home and try and get better from there."
