Michigan guard Nik Stauskas, who had just four points and didn't attempt a 3-pointer before halftime, scored the first five of the second half and didn't stop there. He finished with a game-high 25 points and hit three 3-pointers.
Caris LeVert had 14 points in the first half, hitting a 3-pointer just before halftime to pull the Wolverines within 36-34. He finished with 23.
Gary Harris led the Spartans with 21 points and Valentine finished with 13.
Michigan State took a 38-36 lead when Adreian Payne slammed home a dunk early in the second half, but he was called for a technical for hanging on the rim. After that, it was all Wolverines as they outscored MSU 43-32.
The Spartans largest lead came at 22-11, after which point they were outscored 68-48.
