How MSU commits fared (Week 5)

Vayante Copeland had a huge game Friday night with MSU coaches in attendance, while Matt Sokol also put together a nice performance.

Vayante Copeland

With MSU coaches in attendance, Copeland put on a show in Dayton Marshall's 41-34 loss to Cincinnati Winton Woods.

Copeland opened the game running back the kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown. He also had touchdown runs of 49 and 80 yards. He had 159 yards on 14 carries and the two touchdowns.

Chris Durkin

The 2014 quarterback committed had a 2-yard touchdown run early against Erie Cathedral Prep – the alma mater of current Spartan Damion Terry and Delton Williams. Youngstown Ursuline fell 37-8 to the Ramblers.

Durkin left with a foot injury late in the third quarter, but told < ahref=> that "I'll be all right."

Matt Sokol

The Rochester Adams quarterback had 131 yards rushing on 20 carries and had a touchdown in a 28-21 win against Oxford.

Chris Frey

Frey had 66 yards on 12 carries for Upper Arlington, which fell to Olentangy Liberty 16-8. Frey scored in the only touchdown for UA on a 12-yard run.

Byron Bullough

Bullough ran for 107 yards in Traverse City St. Francis' 27-14 loss to Boyne City.

Enoch Smith Jr.

Smith and the undefeated, top-ranked Mt. Carmel team defeated St. Rita 24-3 and kept Iowa State commit Tommy Mister bottled up.

The Chicago Tribune said "Defensive tackles Enoch Smith and Steve Richardson were typically dominant up front."

Gerald Owens

Owens did not play due to an ankle injury he suffered last week. West Deptford won 63-8 and improved to 3-0.

Jayru Campbell

Campbell played less than half the game in Cass Tech's 76-0 win against Detroit Central. He was 3 of 7 passing for 82 yards and two touchdowns. Recommended Stories
