Freshman Damion Terry will open the week getting the No. 2 reps.
"Connor Cook will go in as the guy getting the No. 1 reps today, and we'll check the two reps to see if the guy who is running No. 2 is capable of doing this, which means Damion Terry will get those two reps," Dantonio said.
Cook, Terry, Andrew Maxwell and Tyler O'Connor are listed as co-starters on the depth chart.
Dantonio said all four quarterbacks remains "sort of in the mix," but it is difficult to prepare four to play.
"It's tough to get three quarterbacks ready," Dantonio said. "It's almost impossible to get four."
Cook started for the Spartans last week, but O'Connor and Maxwell played on two series each.
Cook was 6 of 11 for 32 yards playing mostly in the first quarter and the fourth quarter. He led the lone scoring drive, which covered 33 yards on nine plays in 4:34.
O'Connor came in on two series and was 2 of 4 passing for 22 yards. Maxwell opened the second half and was 4 of 9 for 40 yards.
Damion Terry did not play and Dantonio said after the game Saturday that Terry had strep throat and he had a sore thumb after it had popped out of socket.
Dantonio said Terry deserves an opportunity for what he did in the summer, and that he needs a good week of practice if he is going to play.
Dantonio made it clear that the freshman won't play if he isn't ready.
"If Terry's not ready to play in a game, we can't take the redshirt off him," Dantonio said. "If we take the redshirt off him, he's ready."
Maxwell, who played Saturday without reps in practice the week leading up to USF, will be in a similar spot this week. Dantonio said that is a credit to Maxwell knowing the playbook so well and being able to have mental reps.
