How MSU commits fared (Week 2)

Looking at stats for Spartans commits over the weekend. Lincolnshire (Ill.) Stevenson's Matt Morrissey had a big game, but his team lost.

2014

Chris Durkin

Youngstown Ursuline won in comeback fashion last week and erased multiple deficits this week, but fell to Mentor Lake Catholic 42-27. Durkin threw a touchdown, but also threw two interceptions. He threw for 103 yards and ran for 94 more.

"I don't know if it gets any better as a football player at the high school level in the state of Ohio than him," Lake Catholic coach Mike Bell said of Durkin. (vindy.com)

Vayante Copeland

Copeland had a big game with 320 yards rushing and four touchdowns. He also had five pass break-ups in a 58-55 loss to Chaminade-Julienne.

Matt Sokol

The tight end recruit who plays quarterback threw what looked to be a game-tying 81-yard touchdown pass against Farmington Hills Harrison, but it was called back on a block in the back penalty. Rochester Adams lost 20-7.

Byron Bullough

Bullough scored on a 10-yard touchdown and a 4-yarder for Traverse City St. Francis in a 21-7 win against Gaylord. He had 59 yards on 13 carries.

Matt Morrissey

Morrissey had an interception and two plays later hauled in a 73-yard touchdown pass. He finished the game with four catches for 132 yards, a touchdown and an interception in a 28-21 loss for Lincolnshire Stevenson.
