College advancement and performance camp/director Curtis Blackwell, Michigan State’s newest staff member, spent his second day on the job Saturday.
Head coach Mark Dantonio said Blackwell brings connection and beyond to the Spartans’ program.
“I think he brings a whole list of people that are involved with him on a day-to-day level,” Dantonio said. “When he was coaching Sound Mind Sound Body, the things he did there with a vast network of people and also his 7 on 7 connections, just his connections.”
Dantonio also said his role working with current players will be important.
“I also think in terms of for advancement of our players who are here, he’ll be heavily involved in that as well and also the performance aspect, so camps and things like that,” Dantonio said. “He’s just gotta get his feet on the ground here and start getting things squared away.
“(I’m) very appreciative of our athletic administration creating this position for us and there’s a whole litany of things he’ll be able to do and there’s things he won’t be able to do. So, we’re gonna be able to move through that process as we go.”
