Despite suffering a season ending injury last year against Ohio State, Travis Jackson has earned a spot on this year’s Rimington Trophy Watch List.

New Albany, Ohio, native Travis Jackson will be a key player for Michigan State this fall as he returns from an injury suffered last season against Ohio State.

Jackson, a 6-foot-3, 280-pound center for the Spartans and two-year letterwinner, started 10 games in 2011 and five last season before leaving the Ohio State game with a knee injury and a broken leg.

This spring Jackson returned to action and should be fully healthy when the Spartans open the 2013 season.

The Rimington Trophy is awarded annually to the nation’s top center in NCAA Divisoin I-A College Football. Since its inception, the Rimington Trophy has raised over $2.5 million and is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised over $100 million for CF Research.

The award is named after former University of Nebraska lineman Dave Rimington who was a consensus first-team All-American center and two-time Outland Trophy winner.

Other centers from the Big Ten named to the watch list include the following.

Corey Linsley – Ohio State

Cole Pensick – Nebraska
