The first quarter was quiet as the start of the second quarter led with the White team scoring off two turnovers. The first one came when junior Chris Laneaux intercepted freshman quarterback Tyler O’Connor for a touchdown.
Just minutes later, freshman running back Riley Bullough fumbled at his own 42-yardline that was picked up by senior linebacker Kyler Elsworth for a fumble return for a touchdown. These two scores gave the White team a 14-3 lead.
Just before the half, Cook connected with senior wide receiver Bennie Fowler on a post patter. After breaking a few tackles he was able to rush down the field for a 63-yard touchdown reception.
At the end of the half the Green team had 21 rushing yards to 40 for the White team. The Green team led in passing yards with 221 to just 18 for the White.
Near the end of the third quarter senior running back Nick Hill rushed for 7-yard touchdown run when bouncing outside to the left after breaking a tackle at the line of scrimmage to give the Green team a 17-14 lead.
Muma tied the game up half way through the fourth quarter, 17-17. On the same drive coach Mark Dantonio put Bullough on the White side for more reps on defense.
The Green team ended the game with 37 rushing yards and 288 passing yards. The White team ended with 54 rushing and 110 passing.
The Spartans will play the Western Michigan Broncos Aug. 30.
Maxwell went 9-20 for 110 yards and one touchdown.
Connor went 10-26 for 217 yards and one touchdown.
Nick Tompkins had four rushes for 43 yards. He averaged almost 11 yards a carry.
Bullough had 11 rushes for 48 yards. He averaged 4.2 yards a carry.
Keith Mumphery had five receptions for 40 yards.
Aaron Burbridge had five receptions for 113 yards.
Taiwan Jones had 11 total tackles with 1.5 tackles for lost.
Trae Waynes led his team with five tackles.
