Wednesday provided Michigan State fans a quick look at what to expect during Saturday’s annual Green-White game in Spartan Stadium.
Led by seniors Denicos Allen (injured), Max Bullough, Henry Conway, Darqueze Dennard (injured), Bennie Fowler, Dan France (injured), Derek Hoebing, Tyler Hoover and Jairus Jones, team Green made a few surprise choices during the draft.
Connor Cook the hero of the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl game will be under center for Team Green as Tyler O’Connor will take reps for both teams. Unlike last year, Cook will have a chance to manage one team and concentrate on leading his team to a win. Tommy Vento could also get a rep or two.
WIDE RECEIVER/TIGHT END
Team Green automatically has Bennie Fowler who will be joined by Aaron Burbridge, Tony Lippett, MacGarrett Kings, DeAnthony Arnett and Tres Barksdale. Lining up at tight end will be Josiah Price and Evan Jones giving Team Green a possible advantage.
Team Green may have the most watched player on the field in running back Riley Bullough who made a solid first impression in the second scrimmage of the spring. The two-way performer could be the key to a Green win as the running game has struggled. Nick Hill will look to have a solid performance in the hope of showing he can be a player the Spartans can look to making plays in the fall. At fullback will be Trevon Pendleton and Matt Rea.
Team Green may have the biggest surprise of the spring along the offensive line as many feel Donavon Clark has emerged as a legit starting candidate for the fall. He’ll be joined by senior designate Henry Conway and Derek Hoebing at the tackle spots. Filling the center and guards spot will be Kodi Kieler (center), Zach Higgins (guard) and Kyle Lints (C/G).
Marcus Rush and Jamal Lyles will handle duties on the edge while Lawrence Thomas, Mark Scarpinato, Brandon Clemons and senior designate Tyler Hoover will handle chores in the middle.
With Max Bullough on Team Green, things look good. However, they will be tested with Allen out with an injury. Joining Bullough will be younger brother Riley who will be pulling double duty and Darien Harris, Jairus Jones and Matthew Eleweke.
Cornerbacks will get plenty of work as Team Green will field Trae Waynes and Mark Meyers with safeties Kurtis Drummond, Demetrious Cox, Arjen Colquhoun and Zac Leimbach.
Can Team Green show enough offense and keep Team White from scoring too many points? Make sure to watch Saturday afternoon.
