Game notes from Friday nights 10 point loss to Duke in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Michigan State finishes the 2012-13 season with a 27-9 record...the Spartans have played in the Sweet 16 11 times in the past 16 seasons...MSU has won at least 27 games five out of the last six seasons...MSU has 13 20-win seasons under head coach Tom Izzo.

Keith Appling led MSU with 16 points and finished the season as MSU's leading scorer with 481 points (13.4 avg.).

Derrick Nix scored nine points and collected nine rebounds...in MSU's three NCAA Tournament games, Nix led MSU in scoring (15.0 ppg) and rebounding (10.7 rpg).

Adreian Payne collected his second straight double-double in the NCAA Tournament with 14 points and 10 rebounds...it marked Payne's team-best ninth double-double of the season...Payne also matched his career high with seven free throws...in MSU's three NCAA Tournament games, Payne averaged 11.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks.

• Michigan State is now 2-8 all-time vs. Duke, including a 1-3 record in the NCAA Tournament.

• Duke's Seth Curry scored 29 points, the most points Michigan State allowed all season by a single player (previous high: 28 by Dylan Talley of Nebraska and Deshaun Thomas of Ohio State)...Curry's 6 3-pointers tied the most MSU had allowed all season (Thomas with 6 on Jan. 19)...the 29 points by Curry are the most Michigan State has allowed by a single player in an NCAA Tournament game since Tyler Hansbrough of North Carolina scored 33 in a second round game in 2007.

• Tom Izzo is now 39-15 (.722) all-time in the NCAA Tournament...Izzo is 7-4 in Sweet 16 games.

• Michigan State lost an NCAA Tournament game in Indianapolis for just the second time in nine games...MSU owns a 7-2 record in NCAA Tournament games in Indianapolis...it was MSU's first loss in a regional game in Indianapolis.
