Michigan State will make its 27th NCAA tournament appearance and 15th consecutive on Thursday when they play No. 14 seed Valparaiso in Auburn Hills, Michigan at the tournament's second/third round site.

The Michigan State Spartans will enter the 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament with a 54-25 mark in the tournament with eight Final Four appearances and championship wins in 1979 and 2000.

Valparaiso was the winner of the Horizon League Tournament championship with wins over Green Bay and Wright State and has won five consecutive games going back to mid February.

Overall the Crusaders were 26-7 (13-3 in conference) while beating out Detroit for the Horizon League regular season title.

Leading the way for the Crusaders is 6-foot-7 forward Ryan Broekhoff (15.9 ppg) a native of Australia. He is joined by senior forward Kevin Van Wijk a native of the Netherlands who stands 6-foot-8 and is averaging 12.7 points a game.

Both players are also strong on the glass with a combined total of 415 rebounds on the season.
