Michigan State fans knew Gary Harris was a major recruiting victory prior to him taking the court this season. Now, the rest of the country knows as Harris picked up Freshman of the Year honors from the media and rival coaches.

This past season saw Gary Harris make a major impact on the success of the Michigan State basketball team.

While averaging 13.7 points and 1.6 steals in Big Ten play, Harris earned the respect of coaches and members of the media and was named Freshman of the Year by both.

Harris becomes the first Spartan to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors and the best is yet to come.
