It's not too early to begin identifying the top 2015 prospects in Ohio, and Lakewood St. Edward wide receiver David Dowell impressed last year as a sophomore.
Dowell, 6-foot-1, 175-pounds, has an impressive combination of size and speed, and proved last season he has a bright future. College recruiters have already discovered this fine prospect.
"I'm hearing from Michigan State, Illinois, Penn State and Ohio State," Dowell stated. "Right now, my favorite school would be Ohio State, but I'm interested in anyone that's interested in me. The tradition and atmosphere is amazing, and I loved the competition they had at the camp last year. I'm going back this year as well."
St. Edward surprised people last year by going undefeated in the regular season, and making a deep playoff run with such a young team. They will be the hunted this year in Ohio.
"Our goal is always the state title, but we pride ourselves on not getting ahead of ourselves at St. Edward," he explained. "Right now, the goal is to get bigger, faster and stronger, with the idea that taking care of the winter and spring is all we are concerned with now."
As a sophomore contributor last season, Dowell had 22 catches for over 400 yards, with two touchdown grabs.
EVALUATION: Dowell is a long-striding receiver, and a player that will go across the middle to make the tough catch, or use his speed to get deep. With two seasons of high school football remaining, it's not hard to see Dowell as a Big Ten football player at the next level.
