"Things are going great with recruiting," Shute said. "I haven't received any new offers but I have been hearing from Michigan State a lot recently. I am planning on visiting North Carolina State in about a month and I think I am going to visit Ohio State this spring, I am setting up a few spring visits too."
Shute has an idea of where else he might get to this spring.
"When I get my visits planned I want to visit schools that are showing me interest," Shute said. "Right now I will probably visit N.C. State, Ohio State, Michigan State, and Minnesota."
In the meantime, several schools that have been expressing interest in Shute have stopped by Glenbard West.
"Some of the schools that have stopped by school are Notre Dame, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, Minnesota, Maryland, and Northwestern," Shute said. "Those are some of the recent schools to stop by."
And Shute has taken a few junior day visits already, most recently to Illinois.
"I went to Illinois for junior day and they showed a lot of interest," Shute said. "They have been sending me a lot of letters."
A visit that left a very positive impression on Shute.
"The junior day was overall a lot of fun," Shute said. "It was very cool getting a private tour and talking to Coach Beckman after."
He added, "I have also been to Toledo's junior day a while ago, and then Iowa and Illinois I enjoyed them."
Although Shute is only a junior, he has a pretty good idea of what he is looking for in a college.
"Some things I am looking for in a school are just getting to know the coaches, the size of the school, the facilities like the locker rooms and the weight room," Shute said. "I also want to see the size of the practice field's and the stadium."
And although a decision isn't imminent for Shute -- he does have a timetable set.
"I am trying to make a decision hopefully before the season," Shute said. "But I can't be sure, I will definitely decide when something feels right."
