Hirschfeld's Big Double Dip in Madison

Hartland Arrowhead (Wisc.) junior defensive end Billy Hirschfeld won a state title on Friday and saw the Wisconsin Badgers play on Saturday.

Hartland Arrowhead showed why they were rated as the state's top team, winning the state title 35-14 over Sun Prairie on Friday.

Junior defensive end Billy Hirschfeld took the opportunity to double dip in Madison, winning the title and then seeing the Wisconsin Badgers take on Ohio State on Saturday.

Hirschfeld, a 6'6, 265-lb prospect, is being recruited by the Badgers along with several other schools, and their staff made sure to note his accomplishments.

"I got congratulations from a lot of the recruits, friends and coaches from winning state," he said.

Currently without an offer, Hirschfeld is hearing from Michigan State, Nebraska, Northern Illinois and others. Teammate George Panos is currently committed to the Badgers, and he has built up a lot of familiarity with the school, and they are looking to continue their relationship with him.

"Coach Strickland said he would bring me up to practices to watch them practice even though there are no more home games."

When asked if the Badgers talked to him about an offer, Hirschfeld said, "no they did not."

In addition to the schools mentioned, Notre Dame, Minnesota and others have also made contact.
