• Andrew Maxwell threw for a career-high 275 yards on 20-of-31 attempts . . . he also threw a career-best two touchdown passes (20 yards to Dion Sims, 7 yards to Bennie Fowler) . . . following a MSU fourth-down stop that halted a 15-play, 66-yard Chippewa drive late in the second quarter, Maxwell was 6-for-9 for 78 yards on MSU's ensuing drive, capped by a 20-yard TD pass to Dion Sims, that put MSU up, 21-0 . . . Maxwell was 17-of-28 for 213 yards in the first half.
• Maxwell is the first Spartan starting quarterback to win his first two starts since Jeff Smoker in 2000 (Missouri, Notre Dame).
• Bennie Fowler registered career highs in receptions (8) and receiving yards (99) . . . he had seven catches for 92 yards in the first half . . . he also had a 7-yard TD reception in the third quarter.

• Larry Caper compiled 66 yards rushing on nine carries (7.3 avg.) . . . he recorded a career-long 39-yard rush in the third quarter.
• Nick Hill scored his first career touchdown on a 1-yard run at the 9:39 mark in the fourth quarter . . . he also had a career-long 31-yard punt return.
• Johnny Adams recorded his first interception of the season and the ninth of his career.
• Isaiah Lewis returned an interception 40 yards in the first quarter . . . it marked the fifth interception of his career (129 yards) . . . Lewis also had an interception against CMU last season, running back a pick 37 yards for a touchdown.
• Dan Conroy kicked two field goals (29 yards and 26 yards), giving him 35 for his career, which is now tied for eighth in MSU history.
• William Gholston led MSU with seven tackles, including two for losses (8 yards) and a 7-yard sack, to go along with two quarterback hurries and a pass break-up.
