NCAA Grants Arnett Waiver

Michigan State and DeAnthony Arnett received positive news on Thursday morning as the NCAA made a positive ruling making Arnett eligible for the 2012 season.

Since transferring from Tennessee to Michigan State, wide receiver DeAnthony Arnett and the Spartans coaching staff have taken a low-key approach when dealing with talk about the pending request for the Saginaw, Michigan native to be ruled eligible this fall.

Late Thursday morning, both parties learned Arnett request for a residence waiver had been granted by the NCAA, making him eligible to play immediately during the 2012 season.

The Spartans, who suffered losses at the wide receiver position from the graduations of B.J. Cunningham, Keith Nichol and Keshawn Martin, will look for Arnett to provide quality minutes this fall.

As a true freshman in 2011, Arnett pulled down 24 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns for the Volunteers.

Coming out of Saginaw High School, Arnett was a four-star wide receiver (No. 8 overall WR) known for his ability to get separation through his route running.
