Update on Trae Clark

Defensive tackle Trae Clark holds an offer from Michigan State. However, for some time the talk has been Clark would be headed to West Virginia. Why has Clark not given a verbal pledge yet? We have this quick update on the Cincinnati (Ohio) Colerain product.

Saturday night saw Trae Clark and his Cincinnati (Ohio) Colerain teammates end their season with a loss in the second round of the playoffs. Clark, who has held an offer from Michigan State since June, the talk has been of everyone except the Spartans.

What is the latest on the 6-foot-4, 340-pound defensive tackle?

"Trae still has some work to do academically and we're working on that to get him ready," said Colerain head coach Tom Bolden. "However, what you can't coach is 6-foot-4; 335-340-pounds with the ability to move the way he does."

Bolden knows Clark needs to do some other work to excel at the next level.

"When a college can get him where they have their eyes on him all the time and make sure what he's eating he'll be at his best," Bolden continued. "He's athletic enough there is no question about that. Plus he's a two-way guy. If he can't play d-line for you he can move over and be one heck of an offensive lineman."

While there is still a chance for Clark and the Spartans to connect (Jerel Worthy decision), time is becoming an issue as Michigan State continues to fill its class.

Spartan Digest will continue to follow Clark for any changes in his recruitment.
