Spartan 66 2011 Ranking #50

The Michigan State Spartans won a share of the Big Ten title in 2010. Last year, SpartanDigest.com looked in-depth at sixty-six Spartans and their importance to the team's success. We look at 66 Spartans as 1966 was the last time MSU won a National Championship. It is now time to look at the #50 ranked Spartan in 2011.

Roger Williamson

SD 2011 Ranking : #50

Position: Cornerback / Safety

Experience : True Freshman

Strengths : One of the more gifted prospects in the Class of 2011. Can play on either side of the ball and excel.

Weakness : No on the field experience at the college level.

Forgive me if I seem to have a bias towards R.J. Williamson. Having watched the Dayton (Ohio) Dunbar product the past couple of years has given me a closer look than most. This kid is the real deal and should be one of Mark Dantonio's best recruits when all is said and done.

Overall : Where will Williamson play on the defensive side of the field? Corner , safety, that will be the question. That will be something to watch when camp opens. Great athlete who is physically ready to compete.

Why He Made The List : I've had the feeling since Williamson gave his pledge he could be the one player who enters MSU and gets some early reps. While there are some players who may enter more highly ranked, Williamson is a major talent who should shine before his college career is over. Would not be surprised if he's on the field in some capacity this year.
