Spartan 66 2011 Ranking #63

The Michigan State Spartans won a share of the Big Ten title in 2010. Last year, SpartanDigest.com looked in-depth at sixty-six Spartans and their importance to the team's success. We look at 66 Spartans as 1966 was the last time MSU won a National Championship. It is now time to look at the #63 ranked Spartan in 2011.

Arthur Ray Jr.

SD 2011 Ranking: #63

Position: Offensive Line

Experience : Career stalled due to illness.

Strengths: Highly ranked prospect coming out of high school.

Weakness: Missed four seasons as he battled cancer.

The feel good story of the spring will be tested in camp as Ray will have to show improvement in getting back into the fold. It is not as if he must become a starter, he just needs to show continued progress in continuing his fight against cancer.

Overall: How can you keep Arthur Ray Jr. off the Spartan 66 as he continues to battle back from the cancer that sidelined his college career just two months after signing with Michigan State? Anything Ray can give the Spartans will be a positive.

Why He Made The List: No one on the Michigan State roster deserves a spot more on the Spartan 66 than Ray. After being cleared by doctors in January, Ray was able to get back on the field early in the spring and looked to regain any part of his career he can. The fight continues, and everyone hopes Ray will have a chance to take part in his first college game this fall.
