Spartans Offer Ohio Defensive Tackle

Spartans Offer Ohio Defensive Tackle

One of the hottest prospects in Ohio for the Class of 2012 is Cincinnati (Ohio) Colerain defensive tackle Trae Clark. We spoke with Clark about his newest offer.

At 6-foot-4, 300-pounds, Trae Clark has proven he can play football at a high level. Playing for one of Ohio's top prep programs Colerain, the defensive tackle has seen his stock rise during the evaluation process that just finished for college coaches. One program that has just jumped on board is Michigan State.

What does Trae know about the Spartans?

"I don't know much. I just want to learn more about them and take a couple of visits there and get to know them and see how everything is up there."

One thing Clark is just starting to put together is any camp visits.

"I'm looking at a lot of camps right now and trying to see which ones I'll be attending. I know it's kind of late right now, but I've been busy with track throwing the discus. I made it to districts but track is now over and it's back to football."

What type of contact has Clark had with the Spartans?

"I spoke with them when they offered me. They told me to get up there and to relay some things to my coaches about getting up there. That is the only time I've spoken with them."

Having picked up offers from Michigan State and North Carolina State in the past couple of days has Clark seeing his talent is being recognized.

"Recruiting has been a blast as I never thought it would be like this. I knew I would get a few schools, but I never expected to have SEC schools or some of the other big schools look at me."

Clark also has seen offers from Arkansas, South Florida, Kentucky, Syracuse and others in the past few months.

When asked to describe his game, Clark knows what makes him special.

"My ability to get off blocks along with my footwork and hand fighting are my strengths."

Spartan Digest will continue to follow Clark's recruitment by MSU in the coming weeks to see if Mark Dantonio can pull another top prospect from Cincinnati to East Lansing.
