“I didn’t live up to the standards of the program,” was the start of the statement from Spartan junior Korie Lucious. “Unfortunately, I let my teammates, my coaches, and myself down, and wish them the best for the rest of the season.”
With this release, word quickly spread of the latest trials for the Michigan State men’s basketball program.
Head coach Tom Izzo was quoted in the release as follows.
“Unfortunately, Korie Lucious displayed conduct detrimental to the program. My focus is on this team for the remainder of the season.”
While there will be questions, Michigan State made sure those in the media understood this was the final word.
“Michigan State University and the Spartan basketball program will have no further comment on this issue.”
The Spartans will look to put this behind them as they welcome rival Michigan to East Lansing on Thursday night with hopes of getting back on the winning side.
